Soot and Stars
I AM SOOT!
Re: The Official "The Calling (Alex Band)" Thread
Here's some tracks I really liked off of the solo album that never had youtube vids prior so I never had the proper showcase for them. Seeing how along with my new favorite albums I've been having a love affair with Alex Bands profile as evidenced by my profile track (visit Sooty sometime there, he changes things around sometimes ) I figured I'd bump this thread!
We've All Been There
(I love this opening! It has so much energy and is one the best uses of Alex's vocal outside a ballad. The lyrics and message is motivational as well to match the positive energy. The orchestration is great! The song holds you to the final note and if you can pump your fist to pop then you could do it too this song.)
Will Not Back Down
(Just a light hearted pop song! An easy melody that carries Alex's vocals gracefully into an uplifting chorus!)
Holding On
(This may be my favorite ballad on the solo album though none beat The Calling's best. The acoustic strumming recalls The Calling but Alex seems to try to make every song soar on the album. In some ways that's the downfall of the album but it's still a damn good song)
Start Over Again
(Kind of has a Spanish vibe to it in the acoustics but that's just my ears talking. I like the lyrics to this song and the build around the simple acoustics. Great ambiance!)
