The Beatles' sons to form band? | News | NME.COM

In an interesting, and not all-together surprising, revelation, Sean Lennon, James McCartney, and Dhani Harrison are discussing the possibility of putting together a band. Sort of the Beatles 2.0. Only Ringo's son, Zak, isn't particularly keen on the idea.

It still remains a possibility, as James says:
"I don't think it's something that Zak wants to do. Maybe Jason [drummer and one of Starr's other sons] would want to do it. I'd be up for it. Sean seemed to be into it, Dhani seemed to be into it. I'd be happy to do it."

How would we feel about a new incarnation of the most famous band in rock history?

James McCartney from what I have heard has proved himself to be a very talented writer/performer, so I'd be interested in following his career, but not as part of some contrived 'The Baby Beatles' touring band, presumably churning out cover-versions of all their dad's hits for no useful purpose. Maybe they could wheel Yoko Ono and Cynthia Lennon out onto stage in a couple of wheelchairs to do percussion and backing vocals if Zak won't play ball?:bonk:

Interesting, has Zak mentioned why he wouldn't be interested?

There would definitely be very high expectations for such a project, and the bar would be set pretty high if they wanted to associate it with the original Beatles in any way, shape or form.

I'd love to see this sort of thing with Robert Plant's son Logan Romero, and Jason Bonham. :grinthumb

Zak is the drummer for The Who and I think Roger Daltrey's solo tours. He also toured and recorded with Oasis [2005]. He's a session musician in his own right and a fantastic drummer. I don't know much if anything about the 3 sons mentioned in the interview but Zak is A list, I doubt he would want to be involved with something this like because of who their dads are.

IF this were true, which I doubt it is, I'd have very little interest in it. Maybe enough to check it out once, but overall, meh.

I think there's some potential in this, to be honest. Who knows, they could end up having some of the same fire that their fathers had.

Maybe in a few years, they can go on tour with Jakob Dylan, the Stones' daughters, and as, Jen mentioned, Zep's kids. :heheh:

Not sure if this will happen..and still pondering to myself what it would sound like if it did happen.

As far as Julian? My guess is that he and Zak are really famous and the ony two that are REALLY doing something. Or have done great things.

I think Julian is a bit old for that crowd.

It would make more sense for James, Dhani, Sean and Jason. They all could use a boost.
