In memory of Stu Sutcliffe who was born on this day in 1940.

June 23, 1940 / April 10th 1962

Stuart Sutcliffe was the Bass player for The Beatles for eighteen months (January 1960 - June 1961). Sutcliffe was living in Hamburg, Germany at the time of his death, he died of a brain hemorrhage in an ambulance on the way to hospital on April 10th 1962.

On June 25th, 1967 over 200 million people saw The Beatles perform 'All You Need Is Love', live via satellite as part of the TV global link up.

and All You Need Is Love

The program was broadcast in 'black-and-white' , it was colorized later based on photographs of the event.

'All You Need Is Love' was released as a single (side A),"Baby, You're a Rich Man" was on side B. Both songs were included on Magical Mystery Tour album and the Yellow Submarine Soundtrack.

"We were big enough to command an audience of that size, and it was for love. It was for love and bloody peace. It was a fabulous time. I even get excited now when I realize that's what it was for: peace and love, people putting flowers in guns."

Bang...bang...shoot...shoot. One of my favorites off the "White Album"...

The irony is that Harrison would be later quoted that if everyone with a gun shot themselves then there wouldn't be any problems.
