Re: The Official BEATLES Thread!!

They are the absolutely greatest band ever. Why? Because they did the opposite of what bands do today. Today, bands start being really authentic, and when they have success, they naturally switch to a more commercial kind of music, because they grab a liking to people's recognition and praise. They also have the pressure of record labels, so they have to do "hit" songs and they take a lot of time doing their albums (at least a couple of years).

The Beatles, in the other hand, started with very commercial pop/r&b music, with a lot of covers and stuff like that. But as they gained success and critical acclaim, they developed into the REAL beatles, with innovations and music that defined rock&roll forever. And that is what made the Beatles the best. That when they succeeded, they decided to **** everyone else and do the music that they wanted. And I just love that. Bands aren't like that anymore, except maybe bands like Radiohead.

Re: The Official BEATLES Thread!!

I love the Beatles work, and I think the remasters are a solid 25% improvement
in clarity over the old cd's.

What I would really like to see however, is the release of the remaining archival tracks
left off of the Anthology series. Beacause this is the only Beatles stuff no one has heard.

I have it on good authority, that McCartney finally finished off the "Now and Then" song bout 2-3 years ago, featuring all four beatles, on the track, and sounding great apparently. I don't understand why he bothered to do a lot of work on it, and its just
sitting there for at least two years.

Also I would love to hear Carnival of Light, sort of Paul's version of a Rev #9 from the Pepper sessions..

We know almost for certain now, that The backing track during the white album, for Jackie Lomax's "SOur Milk Sea" that a Harrison guide vocal exists still, with the backing
tracks of Harrison-McCartney-Starr and Clapton, nicky hopkins.. basicially the same as
the finished record, same take, just with George singing..

There are some unheard demos. like McCartneys "Woman" 66 for Peter and Gordon., and there is another reunion track--written by McCartney/Harrison and recorded in March95
at McCartney's studio... its called "All For Love" and they recorded it for two days before
George and Paul had an argument and shelved it... But wouldn't it be great to hear that.

There are some legendary alternate versions, the long Helter Skelter, the Granny Smith version of Love you Too..

The CHristmas recordings, which are fantastic,! .. There is something no one has ever heard, during the last Beatles session of Macca-HArrison and Starr, for I ME MINE in early 1970... they also recorded "Peggy Sue Got Married" with George on Vocal.

So you know, Thats what I really need from the Beatles, is that stuff. I have all the albums. all the song, all the movies, but that last bit of stuff, would be really cool.

The Beatles reunion.. Free As A Bird + Real Love

I am a big proponent for releasing the other "two" reunion songs
NOW AND THEN (another Lennon Demo) which is finished as of 2009
and
ALL FOR LOVE (McCartney/Harrison) recorded March 95 at the Mill

Is this stuff as good as Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane, no I don't think so.
However, its still the Beatles, and Why on earth isin't this stuff out already?

My dad used to listen to them a lot. One of their best songs:

Yeah "I WANT YOU-She's So Heavy" is a great one.

Abbey Road is a great album. It was their last album. The guys
weren't as collaborative or close as they had been, but they Let
George Martin really roll up his sleeves and do his thing, and even
though the guys were about to break up, its a great song on a great
great album.. it's now 42 years old! still sounds fresh and great.

And dare I say, for those of us who remember...in those days it
was all vinyl records, and side one and side two.. and this song
was the big closer for side one, which was important in those days
it builds and goes on for seven minutes and then just cuts off in mid
stride, very jarring and revolutionary for the time, even now its quite
cool

Agreed, it's still a remarkable song.

That is my favorite Beatles album, and I agree I lost track how many times I played my old vinyl copy. Wore it out and bought a MFSL pressing which sounded amazing.:grinthumb

Re: The Official BEATLES Thread!!

I listened to Revolver yesterday... wow it just blew me away, like it always does. It's so hard to believe it was released in '66. The sound, the songwriting, the voices, the variety of songs, I just have to say:

I LOVE THE BEATLES!!!
