Thin Lizzy, UFO & Saxon have headlined the Reading Festival. Thin Lizzy were a big band, certainly in Europe in the late 70's and early 80's.

UFO could and should have been much bigger, and now they're relatively small, but they were more than capable of doing a couple of nights at the old Hammersmith Odeon back in the day and Strangers in the Night is ranked among THE best live albums ever.

All 3 of those bands tour the UK and Europe almost yearly and maintain a very healthy fan base. Saxon still do very well in Germany and Scandinavia.

Budgie I would certainly agree with.

Psychedelic Furs - They had a few minor hits in the US with "Heartbreak Beat", "Love My Way", and "Pretty In Pink", but to my knowledge they never played to large crowds.

They were a very underrated band to boot, and a couple albums like Forever Now and Mirror Moves were very strong records with a lot of good songs on them that would never get airplay. I think they were just too different for the mainstream audience with Richard Butler's abstract lyrics going over many people's heads. It's a shame as they had an incredibly original sound to them that separated them from the rest of the herd.

Psychedelic Furs were produced by Todd Rundgren. Wiki says they touched on hard rock, but I am not sure which songs they mean.

i wouldn't consider nazareth to of made it. they wouldn't be able to do any big headline tours in the states for example.
they've had very limited success over there.

No they weren't hard rock at all. Wikipedia says "Post-punk, New Wave, alternative rock" which sounds about right to me.
