Ensiferum
Official Site
I was listening to this song and I realised that ... there is no Ensiferum thread. Golly guys, what sort of deprived forum do we have in which there is no Ensiferum?
Ensiferum (which means 'Sword Bearer') is a Finnish Folk Metal band which was started up by Petri Lindroosq in 1992. The band often refers to themselves as "Super Heroic Folk Metal" and play their own brand of folk, power and melodic death metal.
Personally I see them as a folk/power metal group with strong melodeath influence but then again they have also been labeled as progressive metal, viking metal, battle metal, celtic metal and (if you read the last.fm tags) 'Awesome'. So ... yeah
These guys have, to date, four studio albums, one compilation album, one EP, three demo's and one live DVD.
Albums:
Ensiferum (2001)
Iron (2004)
Victory Songs (2007)
From Afar (2009)
EP:
Dragonheads (2006)
Live DVD:
10th Anniversary Live (2006)
Demo's:
Demo (1997)
Demo II 1999)
Hero in a Dream (1999)
Compilation Album:
1997–1999 (limited edition re-release of first three demos)
