I was listening to this song and I realised that ... there is no Ensiferum thread. Golly guys, what sort of deprived forum do we have in which there is no Ensiferum? :uh:

Ensiferum (which means 'Sword Bearer') is a Finnish Folk Metal band which was started up by Petri Lindroosq in 1992. The band often refers to themselves as "Super Heroic Folk Metal" and play their own brand of folk, power and melodic death metal.

Personally I see them as a folk/power metal group with strong melodeath influence but then again they have also been labeled as progressive metal, viking metal, battle metal, celtic metal and (if you read the last.fm tags) 'Awesome'. So ... yeah
:grinthumb

These guys have, to date, four studio albums, one compilation album, one EP, three demo's and one live DVD.

Absolutely love the Victory Love release. They are the perfect mixture of folk and heavy metal in my opinion. Neither side is too overpowering to listen to. Very cool band :grinthumb

I haven't given their albums after Iron (2004) too much of a listen as I greatly prefer Jari Mäenpää's songwriting over their later songs. I feel that Jari's work is more epic, melodic and intense than their later stuff ... its like they lost that part of them that made them awesome, still really good but not as good.

This is one of Jari's work:

Current members of Ensiferum are:

~ Petri Lindroos
~ Markus Toivonen
~ Sami Hinkka
~ Janne Parviainen
~ Emmi Silvennoinen

Previous members:

~ Kimmo Miettinen
~ Jukka-Pekka Miettinen
~ Sauli Savolainen
~ Jari Mäenpää
~ Oliver Fokin
~ Meiju Enho
~ Henri "Trollhorn" Sorvali

Honestly, I'm a touch saddened that Jari left. He is a fantastic song writer and perhaps some of Ensiferum's best music comes from Jari's work, Iron (2004) and earlier.
However he moved on to Wintersun and Markus Toivonen started writing for Ensiferum.

Agreed Titokinz! It is (was) BLASPHEMY!!!!
I had always kinda assumed there was an Ensiferum thread because of how well known they are!
Perhaps we can sway some members here to the delight that is Ensiferum.

Maybe a Goblin Dance to get people in the mood? :heheh:
