^^That's a nice looking piece George, can't read the name though...is it an Onkyo?

It's a Marantz Bruce. An SR-19. Antiquated by today's standards but still kicks butt.

^^It does have a Marantz look to it...it doesn't take long for gear to go obsolete nowadays but it's nice you found a good home for it.

Yes, it is a trial selling older gear but the knowledgeable buyers usually know what they are looking for and are very aware of the tradeoffs between generations of models.



Gonzo as of this morning... Not stereo related but it served me well when it was part of the set-up. A Kenwood DV-5900M disc jukebox. I have two left one I am keeping. The other will be on the block in a few days. One of the few that can play two sided DVDs by rotating the disc.

My new set of EL34 power tubes arrived yesterday...

I think the originals are just broken in, takes about 100 - 200 hours for the tubes to finally settle in, have to say the amplifier sounds a lot better now than when I first powered it up.

Next will be two pairs of Preamp tubes, but my friend recommended that I do one set at a time to get a point of reference, so I can tell the differences between different manufacturers.

I am pleasantly surprised, the tubes aren't that expensive, not the ones I'm interested in and it's a good idea to have a complete spare set on hand just in case something fails, and you have to replace them in mated pairs so the sound remains balanced.

4 Tubes for $16 each plus shipping and talk about fast placed the order Friday and they arrived yesterday.

You may have mentioned this before but is your system situated in a special room and do you have equipment in other rooms that you listen tn a personal note i have a portable logitec speaker but i really cant listen to it because it sounds poor in relation to my speakers. So my speakers are my main source now.

^^Not so much a special room 2LT, but the big room in the basement is set up around my audio system. I do have a nice set of curtains and two bookcases along with an area rug and the big sofa to "deaden" the room. It's alot easier to use your systems adjustments to liven a room than it is to quiet it.

In my old house I had 3 different systems set up, one upstairs and two downstairs but here I'm down to one.

^^I've already sold some of my old gear and I'll be putting quite a few more pieces up for sale probably in the next couple of weeks. No hurry but I do need to find homes for the stuff I'm not using any longer.
