Just played the Ted Nugent album for the first time in ages, you know how it is. Man that album is awesome not a bad track on it IMO.

Just gets better with age.

Agreed on Ted being loud. Had ear plugs at a show in London a few summers ago and I still walked away after deaf. Brilliant gig. Would love to see him again. The first few albums are monumental slabs of rock and roll. Very under-rated in my opinion.

His comments about knife crime in London were absolutely priceless, he'd go off on a rant and then launch into the next blistering tune.

Bought this box set:

I basically listened to this non stop for months.

Nugent used to have a morning radio show here in Detroit. He was so funny and irreverent. I loved his show.

I've seen him a few times and he always kicks ass. He's a great showman, and really kind of a comedian. ...And come to think of it, he's another that didn't make the greatest frontman list (on the list thread) that easily could have...But Bono the boner gets on instead? Now that's effing politics.

Re: Ted Nugent

I dont know if you all realize it, but Ted didn't sing lead on most of his early albums, Derek St. Holmes sang most of the leads.

The song "stranglehold", which is an awesome tune........really infuriated womens rights activists. Ted publicly stated that his misogynist and violent lyrics was an act, and not to be taken literally. I dont think alot of women's groups bought that back in the mid 70's :D Anyway, this song has one of the best guitar solos, ranked in the top 50 of all time.

I'm going to see Nuge this weekend, been waiting and hoping for Derek's return for a long time. \m/

I missed the classic line-up by two years...:wa

When I saw Ted he had three other guitarists on stage with him, and although he was in good form I was very disappointed overall. I wanted "Double Live Gonzo" intact, in order with Derek St. Holmes. That will always be my favorite Nuge recording of all time. I have three copies now, the first CD, the Remastered CD, and now a Vinyl rip from a friend.

Haven't played the vinyl in ages, so I'll do that and post my thoughts how I think it rates against the CD's.

I've seen Ted 4 times and he was great 3 out of the four. The last time the sound was a bit lacking. That had more to do with the club then anything else.

I have to agree that as far as releases go the albums w/ Derek St. Holmes
are by far the best though I never got to see that line-up live.

TED NUGENT ~ Ted Nugent is one of my favorite albums from the 70's
