I missed this thread. As far as I'm concerned RORY is STILL THE MAN!. Along with Jimi, Johnny Winter, Leslie West, Ritchie Blackmore and Tony McPhee of The Groundhogs.
I saw Rory 3-times live in London back in 1988, 1990 & 1991
I always like the written quote about Rory that appeared in Sounds music paper back in 1977
"When was the last time that you heard a guitar player REALLY PLAY THE GUITAR?."
I also love the 'alleged' Jimi Hendrix quote when Jimi was asked by a music journalist what did it feel like to be the best guitarist in the world and Jimi is supposed to have replied "I wouldn't know you better ask Rory Gallagher?." This quote is thought to be a 'suspect quote' that Jimi never made but even if Jimi didn't say it I like to think he did ha ha..
I have the 4-Taste cd albums on Polydor that are the two studio albums and the two live albums along with a number of radio broadcasts from 1969-70 and Taste compilation cds.
