Tales of Terror

Tales of Terror was a punk rock band which was active from 1982 until 1986. They formed in a Sacramento California out of the band Suare Cools.They released a self-titled LP in 1984. No CD version has been released it is extremely rare. They played sleazy, sloppy, raucous punk rock just like the Stooges, Sex Pistols and Dead Boys.

They had a pretty good influence on the Grunge scene. Their album is listed in Kurt Cobain's Journals at number 32 in his top 50 albums list and the song "Chambers of Horror" is in a list of songs he had written down.

Green River covered the song "Ozzie" on their "Rehab Doll/Dry as a Bone" album.

Lyon Wong (vocals/lead guitar) - died at the age of 22 from head injuries after being struck by a teenager during a confrontation in the midtown area.
A carload of young men first swore at Wong and then got out of the car and confronted him.

Yea they are not very well known for people who only scratch the surface of punk rock haha.

Lyon Wong was Victor Wong's (the actor) son.

Great band. I actually have their LP on vinyl some where. I need to find that because I can not torrent it as of now.

Nope they never made it into a CD format. I wish they would. I would buy it in a second to put on my Ipod.

Square Cools was the name of the band that Tales of Terror front man Rats Ass and bass player Dusty Coffin came from.
