The End of Innocence is a good tune on Iconoclast.

The opener Iconoclast for a 10 minute song was also pretty captivating :)

MIKE LEPOND, Bassist, Talks About SILENT ASSASSINS Solo Album

mikelepond.jpg

SYMPHONY X bassist Mike LePond recently spoke to The Age Of Metal about his upcoming first-ever solo album, to be released under the banner MIKE LEPOND'S SILENT ASSASSINS.

LePond previously stated about the upcoming CD: "It is a heavy metal/power metal record that combines all the influences of my favorite bands from the past and present. It is a full hour of headbanging riffs, kick-ass vocals, and epic tales. There is something in there for any style of metal you enjoy! Metal Mike (HALFORD, TESTAMENT) is on lead guitar and Alan Tecchio (AUTUMN HOUR, WATCHTOWER, HADES) is on vocals."

Regarding the songwriting process for MIKE LEPOND'S SILENT ASSASSINS, Mike says: "It's been an amazing two-year journey. Waking up late at night with melodies pounding in my brain, writing lyrics on coffee stained napkins, and obsessing over riffs for hours like a lunatic! But to see the fruits of my blood, sweat and tears finally come to life makes it all worth it.

"This CD is all me. I wrote all the music, and all the lyrics. It is one of the most satisfying things I have ever done and I can't wait to share it with you."

LePond has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $6000 to pay for the recording, mixing and mastering of the MIKE LEPOND'S SILENT ASSASSINS album, which he hopes to release by March. He says: "All donations beyond that will go into the promotion. The more funding I get, the more I can promote. Advertising, distribution, hiring a manager, hiring a public relations firm, merchandising, radio promotion, touring, making videos etc, all require tremendous outlays of money. Anything you donate will be 'greatly appreciated, and if you can't donate, please help me spread the word."

Seems strange for a professional musician in an active touring band(at least I hope Symphony X is still alive and well) would have to ask for donations to record a solo album...:hm:

Even I have $6000 in my savings account where did he spend all his money?

The "kickstart" campaign was why I posted the article. I found it odd. I am sure he has more cash than me.......and if mixing and promo is that big a deal, why in the hell do a side project if you can't afford it.

Indeed and it makes even less sense when you consider he can write off the cost of making the album on his taxes anyway. At least I would hope you could claim that as a legitimate business expense.

No matter what the entire way he's going about this has put me off, I have no interest in his solo album at all.

I do have an idea for the title of his new album..."Alms for the Poor!" :heheh:

That's funny, LG.

:heheh:

Instead of begging for donations, why not sell stock in the new venture? Makes more sense but then he might have to share profits.........

^^It's ludicrous in every respect. Begging for money while he arrives in his SUV to record the album. :nw:

:oyea:

I don't know that I've ever read or heard an artist going public like this to ask for money from fans to record a few songs. Other than a few buskers on the sidewalks with their open guitar cases to accept donations, but that's for coffee and lunch not a recording session.:wtf:
