Generally prefer Kansas from Styx but in this case I give the nod to Styx.

Kansas , but I agree that this is the era that Styx was actually meaningful rather than just radio garbage. Kansas would follow them on that path but not until the 80's.

Being completely objective, both sound a bit self indulgent and dramatic. But I just like the Styx sound more overall, and I think Castle Walls is a bit more distinctive. More interesting bass line, keyboards, and overall more dynamic.
