I don't know if it's because of Christmas, but the amount of spam the past week has been absolutely insane! We try to get through it as fast as we can. Special thanks to @That 70s Guy for always taking time to report stuff!

On another site I am on (city-data (vbb)) the spam is getting insane!!!!!!

I have tried to suggest putting all new members on moderation but they dont seem to wanna do it!!!!!! (I made that suggestion @ sitcomsonline (VBB) also and THEY DID IT and now there is NO SPAM on any message base!)

I know it makes it harder for staff doing this.. (For those who dont know: Putting new members on moderation means NO ONE SEES WHAT THEY POST EXCEPT STAFF until they are deemed OK and put into the reg member group)

Yeah, I've seen boards use that in the past and also not letting people post at all, until the moderators have accepted them, but I think that kind of moderating works against us, it's demotivating to new members. It's something I'd only consider if the spam was totally out of hand and we didn't have enough mods to deal with it.
