..not just the personnel (BucketHead,Bambaata,Bernard & Bootsy)
When I bought this I drove our truck 3 times to Ireland and back....loaded with the kitchen sink and it's uncle. The accelerator cable snapped on a dark highway which I repaired redneck style, cops stopped me on 3 occasions, smoked a 1000 camels and drank roadside crap coffee- unloaded, turned around and ferried back...this in the tape player kept me sane, the old tape deck had a "Replay Feature ".#.[wow!]
clocked up an unearthly mileage and trashed the van- this version is no better a take on the old title etc...but it stands up by itself for just being a total groove, and by God did I need one like this - shipping out to another Country with two nippers and no job!
Still stays today...but The cassette version got stuck in the dash- and was crushed to make wing panels for Fiat's!!
Axiom Funk - If 6 Was 9.

There are many songs that still resonate with a lot of us but the thread would end up being an 'oldies' list but this one still captures the late 60's for me and the west coast for many of us and still gets airplay and in films, etc.
'White Rabbit' -Jefferson Airplane

...not an "oldies list"...where I'm concerned, but the clue to the topic is in the title of the thread...predominantly songs with longevity.
War On Drugs,Newcleus and Tame Impala have had as much personal effect on me as has music by Cream,Snafu or Tappa Zukie.

...this goes back to our old family 3-storey house...in 1970ish..
hearing thhs on my Bro's Dansette player.
As I got older,I really enjoyed
Wings singles & albums. When Linda passed- it cut deep as I had a soft spot, and her photography was excellent..This transports me back to times that could have been healthier and my folks needed a boot up the hole!
Paul McCartney & Wings - Every Night.

I grew up in the 60's so most of my favorite oldies were on the radio as singles from 63-69.
We, my brother and I, did have some Beatles , Stones, Doors , etc early lps but it was mostly 45's then....we had several hundred ,,now I have maybe 50 or 60 left.
A few oldies that I still really like...I would play these over and over....
Strawberry Alarm Clock
Lovin Spoonful
The Left Banke

I could easily post 20 or 30 great tracks from those days.

I don't know The Left Banke's version of Walk Away Renée, though as a kid in the 80s those Strawberry Alarm Clock & The Lovin' Spoonful song made me think they were 80s songs, all because of this song:

One Night In Bangkok - Murray Head

and:

Istanbul (not Constantinople) - They Might Be Giants, released in 1990 though has earlier roots, though with the use of the Piano Accordion in this track, it would be easy to think Summer in the City sounds newer, though the Lovin' Spoonful weren't using a Piano Accordion in Summer in the City, some kind of Keyboard instrument.
