Re: Soft Machine

Some incredible musicians have served with this outfit Sweat. Andy Summers, Alan Holdsworth, Ric Sanders, Daevid Allen to name a few. Well worth investigating.

Re: Soft Machine

The first two are absolutely brilliant. Evey time I play those two it's like the first time, even after so many years of having them. With the third I began to lose interest, the style changed and not to my liking.

Re: Soft Machine

Fantastic Canterbury band. Volume I and II are excellent but 'Third' IMO is thier best. Percussionist Robert Wyatt's 'Moon In June' is a masterpiece. A beautiful, hypnotic jazz-rock fusion composition. Avant-garde for 1970.

As well as Kevin Ayers. Probably one of the most unique voices you will ever hear.

Re: Soft Machine

BUMP in a big way!!

It begins with a blessing, it ends with a curse
Making life easy by making it worse
"My mask is my master", the trumpeter weeps
But his voice is so weak, as he speaks from his sleep

Saying: "Why, why, why... Why are we sleeping?"

People are watching, people who stare
Waiting for something that's already there
"Tomorrow I'll find it", the trumpeter screams
And remembers he's hungry, and drowns in his dreams

Saying: "Why, why, why... Why are we sleeping?"

My head is a nightclub with glasses and wine
The customers dancing or just making time
While Daevid is cursing, the customers scream
Now everyone's shouting, "Get out of my dream!"

Saying: "Why, why, why... Why are we sleeping?"

Released: Nov, 1968
Format: 7, 45rpm
Recorded: April 1968, Record Plant, NYC
