I'll be honest, this idea is inspired by one I found in the myspace forums but I thought it was a great idea so it'd be awesome to see your picks. What are some really bare stripped down songs that really don't coast on musical finesse or in your face sonics but you love them either for the purity of the vocals, the storytelling or just the bare unhidden emotion! This isn't just an acoustic thread! I don't care if it's from a rock, rap, country, rap or metal artist as long as it remains as true to what the thread is looking for! My examples are:

Love the lyrics and the imperfect vocals (makes it more human)! Hits an emotional nerve with me!

Very lyric based song with simple acoustic strumming! The story almost feels like a screenplay which I don't hear very often!

Dallas Green is very pure in vocals and delivery! Just a light acoustic song with some great lyrics about reflecting on things as you get older!

Very simple song but always makes me feel with the vocals! I like her diction in her vocals!

The Smashing Pumpkins were really good at making really simple songs work! Billys frail vocals add depth to any song they've written!

Great thread. With all of Jeff Lynne's grandiose music, this is the only one that gave me chills the first time I heard it...still my favorite ELO song.

Great song Annie, especially the first half!

Well, there isn't much more sparse, simple and pure than a good A Capella! Here are some great examples!

Tori Amos-Me And A Gun

Alanis Morissette-Your House
(not fully A Capella)

Boyz II Men-It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday
