SIMO is an American rock band formed in 2010. The group is notable for having virtuoso guitarist JD Simo as the centerpiece and namesake. A blues-based band that also incorporates, jam, jazz and psychodelic elements.
Simo are:
JD Simo – Guitar / Vox
Elad Shapiro – Bass
Adam Abrashoff – Drums
I'll be honest; I've only just discovered these guys through their new album, although they released an album back in 2011. As it says in the mini bio above, the roots of this band is definitely blues, but they have so many obvious and great influences, from Led Zeppelin to The Grateful Dead and probably their biggest influences The Allman Brothers. Parts of the album was actually recorded at Macon’s The Big House Allman Brothers Museum. Simo even played Duane Allman’s 1957 goldtop during the sessions - which was all recorded live.
