The Scissor Sisters are going to be representing the US in the curtain raising ceremony at the Olympics next year. :grinthumb

The Scissor Sisters are set to perform a special concert to launch the 2012 Olympic Games.

The 'Fire with Fire' group will take to one of the six stages which are due to be set up at historic sites along London's River Thames on July 21 and 22, the weekend before the Games begin, for the BT River of Music extravaganza.

Over 500,000 fans are expected to flock to the free shows, which will see each competing continent given a stage to showcase some of their artists.

So have any of you guys heard the new album?:

Magic Hour

I'm mixed on it! It's really a mellow affair for these guys and I'm most for their eccentric, hopped up on glee tracks! :heheh: One of my favorite tracks is one of the more somber ones, Years of Living Dangerously, but I can't post it yet! One of the exuberant tracks that seems to be an all around fave and one I like is:

Only The Horses

They seemed to strip back some of their characteristics to much to create a more mainstream sound on that track though. It's really clubby but more glam than glamorous for a Scissor Sisters song! :D The album is not as good as their others maybe simply for having a track as horrid as this one:

Let's Have A Kiki

:wtf:

That is horrid! :hm:

I heard the Scissor Sisters had a new album coming out but after the lukewarm last impression "Night Work" left me with I didn't follow when it was coming out.
They were definately going for a more commercial sound with their last album and seemed to have just flat out gone the full mile from what I'm hear. Even though I've always love the slower Scissor Sisters songs like "Return to Oz" or "Land of a Thousand Words" I think I may have to pass on this one unfortunately.

I liked a lot of the "Night Work" album. Actually prefer it to Ta-Dah! :peek You should at least listen to the new one Cosmic! I wouldn't necessarily say it's more commercial by any means. :)

Night Life sold well and had alot of A-list rockers advertise it. I wouldnt call that album "commercialized" as they didnt change their sound much from their other works. Little poppier for my taste, but not a radical change in the name of sales.

Blasphemy! I think "Ta-Dah!" is their best album by miles, and that is not to say that their debut isn't one killer album either.

It's at the bottom of my pile if I decide to like the new one! Honestly was dissapointed with that one! Debut is my favorite by far and thought Night Work has some great tracks! Ta-Dah just felt flat to me! Oh shit, I'm so sorry! :woot:

The love the old sound and ragtime flare that songs on "Ta-Dah!" have. Even the "Intermission" is a cool song....

I'm glad you had a good time, Sunny. They have an outstanding live reputation. I really want to see the Scissor Sister live but they don't tour the state that much.
