SAGA!!

Saga Official Website

Here's a band I really love, Saga from Oakville Ontario. Made up of the members of Fludd plus Ian Chrichton and Michael Sadler they were part of the prog movement in Canada in the late 70's.(Yes we had a Prog movement shocking as it may sound.) Germany especially took to this band, they were more popular overseas than at home. They released a few records that were barely noticed and then came their Big One,,,"World's Apart". They actually won a Juno award as Most Promising Band in 1981, but that was the high water mark of their career. Still I like them and play their early CD's on a regular basis.

Albums

1978 Saga
1979 Images at Twilight
1980 Silent Knight
1981 Worlds Apart
1983 Heads or Tales -
1985 Behaviour

Re: Saga

World's Apart is the essential album Thumper, the one I would recommend other than a compilation CD. My cover is different than the one you posted though.

Re: Saga

I'm a Saga fan. I first heard them when they opened for Jethro Tull in '81 or '82 and became a fan overnight. I know more of , and prefer, the older stuff ( up through Heads Or Tales). Great band and Ian Crichton is relatively unknown, which is a crime.

Re: Saga

They have an edge to them Runtfan...mostly due to Ian's excellent guitar playing. I agree with you my collection stops at Heads or Tales...but all of the records up to that one I really like a lot.

Re: Saga

I used to have 1 Saga tape, back in the 80's. Don't remember the name of it, but it was the one with On The Loose on it. Was a decent tape from what I remember, but that was the standout song on it (to me).

Re: Saga

I grew up with Saga LOU, and that is a good album. Yeah they had some good cover art on their early records, I think I have 12 of their CD's now, so I'm a fan.

Thanks for stopping by, it's was getting lonely on my Saga deserted island...:D
