Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper will spend the summer on the road together on a co-headlining tour that will see the two veteran singers sharing a stage in 18 cities across the United States.
The duo’s journey begins July 6 in Hollywood, Fla., and continues into the following month, when they’re scheduled to wrap up Aug. 12 in Houston. The tour, which finds both singers promoting recent records — Stewart’s Another Country arrived in 2015, and Lauper’s country Detour was released last year — is the latest collaboration between two stars who bonded decades ago.
Lauper and Stewart first performed together at Commitment to Life, a 1985 benefit organized by the AIDS Project Los Angeles, where they dueted on a three-song set that included “People Get Ready,” “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” and “Time After Time.” They’ve reportedly maintained a friendship since — and although the press release announcing the tour didn’t say so specifically, their past sharing a mic would seem to improve the chances of duet performances on the road.
Tickets for the tour are scheduled to go on sale to the public Jan. 27 via Live Nation, although Citi cardmembers have access to a pre-sale that begins Jan. 24 at 10AM local time.
