His performance at Woodstock towers above a bunch of the other performers there (including Hendrix's). It is still one of my favorite parts of the three hour film. He was dead on with his soulful and emotive pleas. Massive!
I've loved Richie for quite awhile now. Do yourself a favor and checkout the "Mixed Bag", "Something Else Again" and "Richard P. Havens 1983" albums. I love the end of his Woodstock performance where the announcer says "What better way to start than with the beautiful Richie Havens". R.I.P my friend. Here's some of my fave tunes.
