Just discovered a couple of bands recently I thought I'd throw out there for consideration. Thought if anyone else has anything new to offer, please do so. I love learning about new music and bands I might not have previously heard of.

The Earlies - These Were The Earlies

Described as neo-psychedelic. Beautiful debut album by this band. They bring together many elements and for me it's hard to describe. I used neo-psychedelic because that's what they're catagorized as.

The Clientele - Strange Geometry

This is their second album. Haven't heard the first but it was recommended on another site I frequent. Great album for the fall. They're described as "dream pop." Great album to listen to while sitting in your nice warm living room, with a hot cup of coffee or cocoa during those cool fall days and nights.

Great album. Also pick up their prior releases The Violent Hour and Suburban Light. The Song "Rain" off of Suburban Light is my favourite Clintele song.

I just acquired Illinois by Sufjan Stevens. It is a great acoustic, folk-like album. I haven't heard the entire album but the first four songs I listened to I liked immediately.
I, like you have only heard a few songs off of Illinoise. His albums Greetings from Michigan and Seven Swans are great albums also.

Great list Zombeels. I'll have to look into the ones I haven't heard yet.

Btw, I have heard all kinds of raves about Sigur Ros - Takk and I would think it would be right up my alley but for some reason, I don't get it. I've gotten a couple of requests for it, however, and intend to acquire it eventually. Just maybe wait a while so it doesn't have to go into high rotation. Oh well....

I have many friends that don't like or don't get Sigur Ros. It's not for everyone. I would describe their music as atmospheric, haunting and sometimes shrilling. I think their music would be great as background music for films. In the movie The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou they use the Sigur Ros song "Staralfur" while looking at the Leopard Shark.

I don't know if she's new as I just got a copy of her album Hope and Desire, but Susan Tedeschi is an excellent artist I just discovered. She's described as an electric blues artist. She does remind me of Bonnie Raitt.

Great album. Highly recommend this one.

In a state of deep, deep fascination
I recommend James Blunt's newest album Back in Bedlam. Most of his songs are ballads, and they are really good. He used to be a soldier in the British Army so he has a couple of songs about his time spent in Bosnia. You should check it out.
