If you like Pink Floyd, try David Gilmour's first solo album. A self titled release from 1978.

Also recommended is former Frank Zappa guitarist, Mike Keneally. Try his debut release, Hat. It's loaded with great songs and excellent guitar work.

Rush-Hemispheres or 2112 are great guitar heavy prog albums.

The latter day King Crimson stuff is heavier still. I recommend the 2003 release, The Power To Believe.

On a related note, Adrian Belew Power Trio - Side Four Live is another great record.
