He swung on a flag hanging at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. The disrespectful little bleep needs a slap. Are you American?
Not that it has anything to do with it all, but Yeah...I'm a Yank, a Yank that, if you want to nit-pick, saw a drunken British Ozzy piss on the Alamo-- and walk away "scot free." I'm surprised Ozzy left Texas in one piece.
That being said, I as an American, I can swing from, or piss on, the stars-and-stripes if I so choose, but don't let me catch a foreigner doing it...And the same goes for me if I were to travel to a foreign land and were to disrespect their flag; I'd expect no quarter.
Unfortunately, in my homeland America, foreigners have more rights than native born (especially) European Americans--You can piss on our national landmarks and symbols and when we speak out or take action--we are labeled racists and are prosecuted for hate crimes by our own "flag waiving," sell-out, bull shitting politicians.
As far as that spoiled imp, Master Gilmore, you guys can hang the little bastard if you so choose...It's your business; it would not bother me in the least.
Edited for the usual reasons LG.
He does look like Harry Potter. Silly, spoilt boy - bet he got a shock when he was carted off to court for his actions.I wasn't trying to instigate an argument, and I never used the word "Yank", I simply asked if you were American. It IS relevant, because you might not know what the Cenotaph represents to us Brits. As you've answered yes with regards to US nationality, I was going to suggest how upset many people would be if someone disrespected a monument intended to remember the dead from conflict in the States, and you've used the Ozzy taking a piss on the Alamo as an example.
But surely you can see the difference between Ozzy and Charlie Gilmour. To be honest, I don't know what the Alamo is, I've read about it, but it hasn't stuck with me. I'm guessing it's to do with the American civil war? I shall look it up. Ozzy is or was a foreigner at the time, so chances are he didn't know what he was doing. That's not an excuse, it's a suggestion. But I can't believe any malice was intended, you might say it was bad luck the bus stopped where it did.
Charlie Gilmour, as a Brit living here, should have seen at least part of a remembrance Sunday service on TV showing the Queen, politicians and various other people at the Cenotaph. He was "rioting" as part of the student movement and was simply hell bent on doing whatever he pleased at the time. It says ALOT that he turned up at the trial, hair cut, glasses and dressed like Harry Potter...
The rest of your post sounds a lot like things here in Britain, but I'm sick of people moaning about it, so I shall leave that subject for someone else.
They should give him a medal for attacking the "royals." Wow, the little imp will rot in jail for for nearly two years of his spoiled life; not sure if swinging from the flag merits that... The judge probably gave him a year and a half as pay-back for his father's horrible music.
