Need help with an xmas gift idea. I'm looking for a CD oldies compilation with 50s/60s pop and early rock. It can have soul and doo-wop, but that shouldn't be the focus of the set. The requester had recently bought several budget line compilations and none of them were the original recordings, so she was very disappointed. The budget is around 50 bucks max. The more tracks the better. Hits are good...not looking for complete obscurities. It can be high fidelity or remastered or whatever...would prefer it to not be mono, but depends on the track listing. I've checked out some sets by Rhino and Ace but they are pretty expensive for the whole sets.
Does anyone have any nice and robust Oldies sets they can recommend?
