I really wish Tarja could come back, but I think those bridges have been burned. It's a real shame about Annette, since she was really starting to sound good. Floor is cool, and as long as Tuomas' songwriting is solid, the music should stay high quality. Still, having multiple vocalist changes is never good for a band.

That was sort of my thought......I think it's a bit tooo soon for Floor or any singer change at this point. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Floor and her voice but Nightwish is a band that I REALLY stand behind and defend.

Anette was just coming into her own, and we were getting used to he as singer number 2. But with the release of a new album and a new movie, that isn't even out yet, yeah I thought it was a bit too soon.

I wish they could have taken a long break and maybe announced this like a year from now, if they were not able to work it all out.

But regardless, I say good luck to Floor :grinthumb

Anette came into the picture in pretty harsh circumstances, I really wish they could have got DPP out with Tarja first, that album had Tarja's vocals all over it in terms of suitability.
So many narrow minded Nightwish fans made her some kind of scapegoat. Pathetic really.

She really pales in comparison to Tanja as does the gothic rock direction to the symphonic metal of the old and majestic Nightwish. Nightwish is not in the least bit interesting to me these days. Gothic rock...a big no thanks from me.
I'll pass on the new one.

I agree with that comparison actually of the respective sound of the band despite the fact I liked the last album. I just think when shit went down, the more extremist type fans put it all on Anette for the Tarja firing. I found the whole thing to be just pathetic, firstly of the band to do a public firing, I find that in really poor taste. That asked for trouble really and if anyone alienated fans it was Nightwish themselves when they did the public letter.
They should just stick with Floor Jansen, forget about a Tarja reunion, that realistically will never happen (hope they prove me wrong lol). I like Floor Jansen as their vocalist anyway, much more than Anette. They may return to symphonic metal, I hope they do if they stick with Floor as singer, her vocals may not be Tarja but she can do great symphonic vocals from what I heard.

NIGHTWISH turned me off by their failure to find a suitable replacement for Tanja and their subsequent change from metal to goth rock. I care about the music, band politics are near to meaningless to me. If they return w/ a good symphonic album w/ Floor I will regain interest in the band,

Exactly why they shouldn't have done that public letter in anything but private in my opinion. Leave the band politics and the bullshit away from the fans.

I have a feeling they will keep Floor, I mean the fans really seem to love her and in the latest Finnish Interview Toumas was asked about the next singer and he mentioned: "If only I knew. We have agreed with Floor that we'll perform the concerts that have been already scheduled through the end of next summer and we'll enjoy ourselves. The feeling in the band is amazing at the moment. But what happens after that and WHETHER FLOOR WILL CONTINUE, we don't even want to think about it yet. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, but nothing is decided before 2014". She's been doing a fantastic job with the songs from what I've seen on YouTube. Floor (before being in NW) was a bit the underrated singer in the female fronted scene, despite being the best (imo) and pretty unique. (I can't think of another female vocalist that masters the powerful belting style and can do aggressive vocals as well.) This is why I always thought that if she is invited in NW, she'll jump on the opportunity. She loves NW too, there's no doubt about her passion, and who would refuse the opportunity to be in such a big band?

Listen to her Opera at 3:54 through 4:06 :pullhair:

Seriously wouldn't be surprised if she became the next NW singer :)

Definitely fits the definition of "suitable replacement". Hope they put out new music w/ Floor. It would, IMO , go along way towards redemption.
