We now have a super neat feature for Blogs!

If you look at the tool bar on the top of each page, you will see the link for "Blogs". Click it :)

You will see a test blog and My First Blog. You can make comments in my blog.

On the left side of the page you will see the blog menu. click on "blog control panel". This is like your own userCP for the blog. This will take you to a new screen where you can customize your own blog. You can make your blog private, and allow only friends to see it and you can make your blog where people cannot comment in them, too.

This page is where you will begin your blog. after you have made your settings in the main window, you now go to the left side of the page and click on "Blog title and description". Once your blog is titled, you are ready to make entries. and you find this option on the left side of the page "post blog entry".

If you have any questions, please post them here. I will answer them as they are posted :)

Have fun with this....it is really a cool feature.

PS. for now I have it set to allowing only 4 images per post....that can change later if need be.

Re: Blog, Blog, and more blogs!

Just wanted you to know I tried Blogs a few years ago, but it blew up in my face and I couldn't make it the way I wanted to make it, so I've stuck with PDFs since. I don't want to sound like I'm putting a curse on your Blogs, I just felt that I've been there and done that and if anyone wants to make a specific design for one, you'll get shot down one day when the powers at will, will set guidelines and conditions on Blogs - if you want to do you're own thing do it in Openoffice or something and make a PDF - heaps better! Otherwise if people want to make a Scrapbook style Blog - it should be relatively easy to do!

Re: Blog, Blog, and more blogs!

That is fine and dandy, CP/M, if you use wordpress or blogspot for blogging.

This is something totally different, and isn't dependant on a public server which is owned by a person selling advertising space and allowing users free access to blogs. This is a program add-on feature to vBulletin. It operates in conjunction with the program that runs the forum. It doesn't have all the complicated configuration of a wordpress/blogspot blog. And as far as I know, it is very limited on what you can customize.

The Blog is just a nice spot where you can put your private thoughts, or things that are of interest to you, and you dont mind others reading them or commenting on them.

Lord Grendel and I both now have a blog!

Come on Peeps, lets see some blogging

NOTE: there is a spot in the main blog configuration page under " spam management " asking for a wordpress API key........you can use this if you wish if you have a worpress account, you may use your own API spam key.

If you dont have a wordpress account, you may still obtain an API key by registering an "account only" at this web address:

http://akismet.com/personal/

click on the link "free API key" then follow the links to obtain an API key.

The website explains exactly what the Akismet API key is and how to use it.

*PS. I have chosen not to use this feature of the blog.*

Look at the tool bar on the top of every page, OB, and click on "Blogs". This will bring up a page listing the blogs. The top of the page will randomly choose a blog to spotlight.

Also, each person who has a blog will have a "blog entry" below their avatar, you can click that, too, to get to their blog.

AND there is a tab in each persons profile that says BLOG....if they have a blog it can be found their profile.

To easily access your own blog, go to userCP, and on the very bottom of the left side menu, you will see a Blog section.

I hope I am helping people to use this feature :)

Patience Snoop, it's only been there for a couple of days.

My first attempt was an epic failure, I tried to post my massive Beethoven homage, but the BLOG only holds 2,000 characters and my post was 4,200 characters...lol.

O, gosh LG. You tried to post a blog in the "title/description" page then. I have that restricted to 2000 characters in the description.

To post and actual blog entry, you have to select "post to your blog" from the menu on the left side of the blog page. All entries are restricted to 10,000 Characters and 4 images (which includes smilies).

I have all comments/replies restricted to 10,000 Characters and 4 images also.

Also on the left side of the main blog page you will see "categories". You should make categories for your blog/blogs. You are able to post a blog in more than one category, too. *actually you can have a single blog in 5 categories* If you dont make a category, your blog will be filed under "uncategorized" and wont come up on searches..........YES there is now a search feature for blogs, too :D :)

I know all this sounds complicated, but once you make a blog, it is really simple to add things. All your categories, etc are at the bottom of each post screen, just like making a post in the regular forum.
