As everyone is now aware, Toto have commenced writing their next studio album finally! The lineup is that of the current live band, which includes Lukather, Paich, Porcaro, Phillips and vocalist Joseph Williams. The band has signed to Frontiers Records for the release of the album, to be recorded in the second half of next year and released early 2015. From Frontiers: "Toto will be releasing a brand new album on Frontiers Records in early 2015! Expect some great NEW music from these Rock legends!"
I asked Steve Lukather to comment further, so I can now add this exclusive update from the man himself: "We have started writing it and are DEAD serious about the writing. I have a some stuff.. and Dave has a few great things further along. There will be serious new group writing sessions when I return from Ringo end of Nov. The point being made is that we ARE doing a new record and writing has started. It will be an early 2015 release as we have a full year still touring being the 35th anniversary in Japan and USA and elsewhere in the world we have not yet been. It's gonna have to be great before it comes out. We know people that like our music have high expectations, as do we.
Just let people know we are serious and we are gonna try our best to make the best classic Toto record we can. Joe, Dave and myself will be on lead vocals with most focus on Joe as he is on fire right now."

Jimi Jamison recently posted this on Facebook: "Getting ready to start a new Survivor CD." Of course we have heard this news before and there was no additional comment from Frankie Sullivan when asked, so we'll wait and see...

Winger's new studio album was described to me by Kip Winger as "...maybe my favourite album we've done." You can expect a release in April via Frontiers Records.

Night Ranger's highly anticipated new studio album is still being recorded and will be released Summer 2014 with the band vowing to top their might effort on Somewhere In California. Frontiers will release. Some of the song titles lined up: The Mountain Song, Hang On, Don't Stop, St. Bartholomew, Rollin' On.

The new House Of Lords album is also done and is called Precious Metal. Guitarist Jimi Bell had this to say about the album: "I got to hear the Mixed and Mastered tracks for the new House Of Lords CD Precious Metal! The CD is outstanding and to me, James Christian has never sounded better!!! The power, the range, the intense harmonies are all there!! And as far as songs go, this is by far my personal favorite since I joined the band in 2005. And James let me tear it up ALOT more solo wise on this CD. It's our Heaviest, but still very Melodic CD that the band has put out!!!! Bottom Line!! YOU'RE GONNA LOVE IT!!!!"

I'll probably pick up a copy of "Precious Metal". I heard a couple of tracks from it yesterday and if those tracks are anything to go by, it's a great album.

The cover art is also awesome (just an added bonus which helps complete the package)

^ The cover was the reason I bought the first HOL album wayyyy back when.

Luckily it turned out to be a great musical album too.

Frontiers Records are really in business with many old classic bands.
