I'm not sure on this topic but how about Creedence Clearwater Revisited? I know they are basically Stu Cook and Doug Clifford "covering" their old Creedence Clearwater Revival songs but they are still a good band.

^^CCR is a good choice Scotty, some people dismiss them out of hand but I always thought they were a top notch band.

In the same vain I'll offer Mark Farner's band Grand Funk(Railroad), they put out some excellent songs over the years.
