Wow!! I thought I was the only one!!! I also have said that the lineup with Degrasso and Pitrelli.

That was the greatest!! Not to be compared with the current line up of course.

:grinthumb

Pitrelli was good but I think Broderick does the solos better of the older material. I love Broderick, he does some amazing solos. When he does the Rust in Peace songs live he nails the good solos, Pitrelli didn't quite do that so well.

You hear Rust in Peace or Peace Sells yet? If not those are the must listens.

Finally managed to listen to Rust In Peace, and I absolutely loved it :grinthumb

My favourite tracks...

Holy Wars...The Punishment Due

Hangar 18

Five Magics

Tornado Of Souls

Dawn Patrol

I couldn't stand Tornado Of Souls to begin with; I found the vocals grated on my nerves, but I'm starting to like them now. I was surprised by the vocal style of Dawn Patrol, but really liked it, and the fact that it's played only on bass. In fact I like the bass parts on the entire album, and kind of wish I hadn't sold my bass now as I'd love to learn how to play these songs :(

Peace Sells...I have to say that so far, I'm not liking this one at all. I can't put my finger on why, either, which is annoying. It's not any one particular thing, or any particular tracks, but the whole package; for some reason it just isn't sitting well with me. But I'm going to persevere with it, see if maybe a few more listens will help me change my mind.

Cheers for the recommendations though anyway :grinthumb

Peace Sells is a grower, some songs hit well for me on first listen, others took a bit of time.

I could never make out if Dave was a great guy or wot?. (He's probably ok?).

Best moments for me was when i watched a dvd about MEGADETH about 12 years ago and during the dvd Dave recounts (in all seriousness) that after a self-inflected drugs binge he died!!. But was brought back from death after several minutes by the hospital medic's :omg:

Dave also said (in all seriousness again) that if they 'blow out' a gig they were "taking bread & butter out of my children's mouths" (they being Ellefson, DeGrasso & Pitrelli) plus also he also told Jimmy DeGrasso & Al Pitrelli that he wanted them both dressed in suits & ties waiting down in the hotel lobby 5 minutes before the bus leaves cos he wanted to give people a good impression of the band!! :omg:

It ain't Rock & Roll but it was a sure good laugh!!:oyea:

Interesting to know...in that case I'll come back with some more thoughts at a later point. Still got most of their other albums to get through yet too. Peace Sells, Rust In Peace and Endgame are the only ones I've listened to so far, really looking forward to getting a copy of the latest one too after reading all the positive comments about it on here.

MEGADETH THRASH ALBUMS-
KILLING IS MY BUSINESS... AND BUSINESS IS GOOD
PEACE SELLS... BUT WHO'S BUYING
RUST IN PEACE

MEGADETH ALBUMS THAT ARE NOT TOTALLY THRASH-
SO FAR, SO GOOD... SO WHAT!
COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION
YOUTHANASIA
CRYPTIC WRITINGS This album was a surprise commercial success!!.

RISK This album was terrible!!. Dave thought that he would write another 'commercial album' and hopefully have another 'hit' album like the previous 'Cryptic Writings' and RISK was the end result??. Avoid if possible. :omg:

* * * THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE DISCOGRAPHY * * *

I enjoyed Risk actually. Most avoid it but I love that album.
I still know it was a failure, it was a flop but it has some pretty cool tunes.

Megadeth thrash album also goes to The System Has Failed and Endgame.

Yeah i guess some fan's (or non Megadeth fan's) liked RISK but it was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT after CRYPTIC WRITINGS atleast i thought so and so did a lot of MEGADETH fan's i believe thought the same, it didn't sell.

I can't really remember it cos i only played it about once and if i remember correctly it was all or nearly all 'slow rock' songs i don't think that there was even one thrash number on it??. :omg:

I think people wouldn't hate it so much had it not had the name Megadeth on it. It actually had some nicely crafted material, I enjoyed the sound, as a Megadeth album it was a fail for sure but as an album in general I love it.
