ComfortablyNumb
Unquestionable Presence
The Meat Puppets are an Alternative/ Punk rock band from Phoenix, Arizona that formed in 1980. Their original lineup was Curt Kirkwood (guitar/vocals), his brother Cris Kirkwood (bass guitar), and Derrick Bostrom (drums).
They are one of the more notable groups that were signed to SST Records (who released most of their albums.) They originally started as a punk rock band, but like most of their peers on SST they established their own unique style, blending punk rock, country, and psychedelic rock. It was topped off with Curt's warbling vocals. They gained significant exposure when the Kirkwood brothers served as guest musicians on Nirvana's MTV Unplugged performance in 1993. They broke up twice, in 1996 and 2002, but reunited again in 2006.
The Meat Puppets have influenced various bands such as Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr, Pavement, and Soundgarden.
IMO one of the most underrated bands. Overlooked constantly.
Great band IMO.
