I randomly met Vernon in Dallas, TX in 1993 while they were on the "Stain" tour. I'd just bought tickets for the show (Bad Brains was opening) and was surprised to see him wander into this little vegetarian joint I was eating at with friends. I'm sure he wasn't sure what to make of me - I looked like a skinhead back then - but a really friendly guy and they put on a great show that night.

My introduction to Living Colour came via a vinyl flexi-disc from Guitar World Magazine in 1989. Turn tables were not completely passe' yet. Been a fan ever since.

I've got the Time's Up album, but I cannot really get into it because it is a bit too diverse for my taste.

One of the best of the era. Truly amazing live performances, but ive only seen tapes, tangible and over the web. def deserved more mainstream recognition.

I agree with your comment about them being underrated. I think they've been consistent over the years. I think "The Chair in the Doorway" tends to get misjudged - it's a good album! As for which album is the best? As far as I'm concerned, and I think most people agree, "Vivid" is their best album. It has my two absolute favourite Living Colour tracks: "Cult of Personality" and "Open Letter (To a Landlord)".
