Thought this was interesting that Simmons was asked to be involved somehow. 200 Million is alot of bread.

LED ZEPPELIN have always refused to say how much cash they were offered to go back on the road.

But KISS bassist GENE SIMMONS claims he was once handed around £200million to tempt surviving band members JIMMY PAGE, ROBERT PLANT and JOHN PAUL JONES to reform.

The tongue-waggler said: “In 2009/10 I was given a few hundred million dollars in an account by a large concert promoter and given the task of reaching out to Jimmy and Robert and trying to convince them to get back together.

Claims ... Kiss bassist Gene Simmons tried to get Led Zep back together

“Of course, it didn’t work. Robert just doesn’t want to do it.”

Gene – who launched Kiss’s 20th album Monster last week – was told to get Zeppelin back together after their monumental one-off gig in 2007 at London’s O2.

Bet he was annoyed when he failed to seal the deal and land his cut of the monster payday the band would have got for a reunion tour.

Weird connection between getting Simmons involved and trying to get Plant to quit being such a pussy about a reunion.

Hey, if you don't think it is going to turn out well the right thing to do is not to do it (unless you really need the money). Hats off to anyone who chooses taste over mulah.

Taste?

I think it's more of a case of Plant either being the self-centered turd that many have made him out to be, or it's a case of he knows he can't perform. Anyone who has heard his voice in the last 20 years knows he can't do the studio Zeppelin work justice. Hell, he couldn't hardly do it after about the mid 70's. Maybe he's just smart enough to not go out an embarrass himself for an entire tour of doing Zeppelin tunes.

Yes. Taste. If you don't have the pipes anymore yet still do it then what is your motivation?

It ain't art or taste.

Most times you can do a lower range if need be. Cause in the end, when you're a legend like that it's the personality behind it that's recognized more than anything.

IMO I wish they would just do it and get it over with while the three of them are kickin'. With the release of the DVD it would be a GREAT time.

Not only about the cash either...but for rock and roll history in general. One more time guys!

"Gene, thanks for trying. Can we have our money back now?"

"Uh, sure, but I, uh, well, it's like this, ummm.....I forgot my account number! Yea, that's it!"

Personally, if they are going to work together again I'd rather it be either on songs all of them can accurately pull off or on new material where they might bring something to increase their legacy rather than just milk previous accomplishments. Frankly, I don't think I'd go to a concert of sub par Zeppelin even if the ticket was free (unless I felt they really needed my money).

Well....ok...I would much rather have new Zeppelin music. Can't disagree there. Tour that with selected classics.

Exactly. I actually think they could find one two or even three sets full of stuff the geezers would be perfectly suited to pull off. Black Country Woman, That's the Way, hell even something like Nobody's fault but Mine might come off really good. The problem is you's most likely have lots of people bitching that they didn't play Stairway or something.

Personally I'd much rather have them touring stuff they could pull off.
