I can hear where they could pull off Stairway though....it's not a big deal until the end..and dropping the key down one notch and sing against the music in lower harmony would be cool....toss a little grit in there.

The point is, if he doesn't feel like he's up to the task God love him for not just milking it.

That's a new twist on the ongoing Led Zeppelin soap opera.

Haven't seen the new concert DVD yet so I can't offer an opinion on the difference between Plant's voice now and when he was younger, but I do know he has said numerous times he doesn't feel comfortable singing certain old songs anymore, and the fans Want to hear them. Also he's happy doing his own thing now, and had some success I might add.

I tend to agree with Khor, if he feels that strongly about leaving Zeppelin's legacy behind, except for the special 2007 concert then I respect his decision.

Agreed with this actually. I don't see any real point to doing it if money is the sole motivator. If he or even the other 2 just don't want to reform then, it shouldn't happen whether the fans want it or not. I

Gutiarists can replace strings, update hardware, whatever, and as long as their dexterity is there, they can still play. Even if they lose something, they can compensate some other way.

Vocalists, on the other hand, don't have the luxury of replacing vocal chords. They can have them fixed, patched, whatever, but they're never what they once were.

However, they, too can compensate by fitting their style to their abilities.

In the field of 'big vocal' rock, (Hey, I think I just invented a new genre!!), I doubt singers like Plant, Roth, Uncle Ted, Dickinson, Halford, and all the other bellowers are thinking about what their voice is gonna sound like in another 15-20 years.

They're singing for right now, so they give it all. Oh, I'm sure they probably take some precautions, limbering up with scales, or drinking certain things, but nothing along the lines of a classically trained opera singer.

Anyone who owns the 'Live After Death' dvd can not only hear, but can actually see Dickinson struggle vocally through Aces High and Two Minutes To Midnight.
His chords weren't loose, and it took a couple of songs to warm them up and get them stretched.

Like an athlete with tight hamstrings, they need to warm up.

All that being said, if a Zep tour ever does come to fruition, these cats are certainly not the same people they were 30, or even 20 years ago.

But, these guys are professional musicians, and they'll make music that fits who they are now, not who they were in 1969.

Personally, I would looooovvveeee to see a semi-acoustic (don't know when it was renamed unplugged) show from Zep, like Neil Young's Rust Never Sleeps.

Can you imagine, Achille's Last Stand, or The Lemon Song, or Misty Mountain Hop just a couple of guitars, maybe a tamborine?

Groovy.

I'd go right to the bank and take out a loan and get tickets for that.

Yeah, that would be great. I wonder if they are hitting him with various ideas? I would expect they are but one never knows.

Interesting story. I wonder who the party that asked Simmons to negotiate with the remaining members? It can't be Atlantic. They don't even share the same record label that I am aware of.

As far as a reunion goes...that ship has sailed long ago. There were rumors of a four night Madison Square Garden stand in the aftermath of the 02 gig. In reality, Plant just doesn't relate to the music anymore at least on a larger scale though deep down I'm sure he is proud of it. Another thing is that he does not want to deal with the HUGE expectations. Finally, in his mind Led-Zeppelin passed on in the wake of Bonham's demise. Hell, Plant didn't even want to tour in 1980 but had to be talked into it by Grant.

Would a full scale tour work IF that FANTASY were to happen? Nah... Led-Zeppelin onstage is all about four players...is a high energy, complex show with dynamics and improvisation [which leads to that sloppiness thing]. They can pull of a reasonable facsimile of it if it were a one-off but two to three nights straight or months on the road? Doubt it... Even they find the thought draining. Personally, I'd like to Page hook up again with Coverdale. Their one outing together really cooked.
