Re: The OFFICIAL Led Zeppelin Thread

Ahh, Physical Graffiti. I must admit, I was a "hater" when it came to that album at first when I was just discovering the greatness that is Led Zeppelin. However, I eventually really, really listened to the album and grew a great appreciation for the heavy riffs on the first side. "Black Country Woman" on the B side is also a little reminiscent of "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" with the bass drum. Have a listen!

"In the Light" is one of those songs where you can just close your eyes and imagine yourself back in the 70's. I LOVE the ascending riff by Pagey. This album drew heavily on international influences. That's one of the things you grow to love about Zep. They can incorporate many different genres into their music and make it sound good (listen to "Hot Dog" and its country-like sound).

BUT... if you are going to talk about PG you MUST acknowledge the monumental first side. "Houses of the Holy", "The Rover", the sexy "Custard Pie". And who could deny "Kashmir" as a musical masterpiece that almost anyone on this planet, rock lover or not, could recognize.

Bottom line: FABULOUS album by the best band in the history of rock music.

Over the Hills and Far Away is the best from HOTH for this girl. But I also count Ramble On as another one of my faves and those two have a similar sound to me. The Ocean is a VERY underrated song. That song is so hard! I love it. One of the first Zeppelin songs I discovered.

I was talking about this in the "sexy men" thread or something like that, but Robert Plant is a very sexy man:

You get to see Percy live? SO. JEALOUS. I want to see Jimmy live. Riger Daltrey has expressed interest in touring with him. It would be EPIC

^^I was chatting to a friend telling him about my experience seeing Jimmy at The Hummingbird in Birmingham about 22 years ago and he swapped stories about his experience seeing Zeppelin at Knebworth in '79 .. anyway we were just chinning along when this older bloke turns up and joins in telling us about seeing him with the Yardbirds in the mid/late 60's .. one thing we had in common we were all blown away by Jimmy's guitar work.

You are so lucky to have seen him. He is magical. I hope he does tour with Roger Daltrey. I live in Alaska but I will fly to see him. That's how much I love his work! And Roger Daltrey still sounds frickin' awesome even all these years later.
