Thanks Bucky!! I had all those magazines too..in fact I had quite a few years of CREEM but that's another thread! Rock Scene, Grooves...man the memories!!
Alive! provided KISS with their first Gold record. By the end of January 1976 the album had gone platinum.
When Paul cracked this beauty out in the montage on the farewell tour of Australia in ' 01 i was ecstatic ( The last true, great KISS series of concerts.. been all down hill since then but that's another story for another thread )
Then the ACE FREHLEY band decided to play " Rocket Ride " and i was thinking man life doesn't get much better than this front row listening to KISS in make up in arena play parts of Mr.Speed and Rocket Ride.
I never got it, people missing out on some great music due to some make up and image.
You ask them what bands they listen too and then can't help but think KISS is right up their alley but you just can't get these people to look past the image.
" Sure Know Something " is still just as amazing today as the day they recorded a true timeless GLAM ROCK master piece.
Why KISS has never ever played this song live on electric guitar is beyond me. Sure know something is their accoustic guitar whipping boy.
most people either love em or hate em, those that think "they're ok" are usually too young to have been there in the 70's. Those of us that were there either loved em or hated them and I loved 'em, everything from the 70's (except for maybe Peter and Gene's solo albums) and Unmasked. The 80's stuff was cool, it rocked but it wasnt classic Kiss.
