I look at it this way...

Iron Maiden is a metal band and so is Edguy

It's just a different year...why can't Green Day be a punk band...they sure are by sound and since they've started they always had an attitude that seemed honest enough for me.

As for Green Day's career, I like their stuff both pre- and post-American Idiot, although if I had to pick, I'd choose post-American Idiot as my favourite. But both "eras" have their ups and downs.

I really love American Idiot. Definitely one of the best albums in 2000's. I also sometimes don't agree with the stuff they say, but it doesn't stop it from being brilliant.
