It's a case of diminishing returns for me. I love great sound and well produced and well mastered music, but no one's going to succeed in telling me that my versions of Zep I, II, II, Symbols and Physical Graffiti et al aren't the real deal and/ or that I should part with £100 to obtain new versions.

The 20 year old remasters were excellent, so how much more clarity is it possible to wring out of these 1969/ 70's recordings?

I've heard vinyl rips from the first 4 Quiex 200's while I agree they sound amazing, I don't like the mixes. For my ears, the original LP releases are perfect they way they are. Unfortunately, unless one has a mint condition 42 year Led Zep vinyl record, these modern Quiex remasters are maybe the next best thing. They are worth hearing if you love LZ.

Did you listen to the 16-44 or 24-96 vinyl rips of the Quiex set Stepcousin?

I do have II and IV on the original vinyl, somehow they've survived all these decades and haven't done an A/B comparison between the two yet, never enough time.

But I will say categorically the Quiex releases sound better than any of the CD's, remasters included. Old rock sounds better in it's original analog format and always will, but if they are going to do redo LZ's catalog once more, then Hire Stephen Wilson and let him give us 24-192's and be done with it. Of all the digital formats it's the only one we have that can hold everything the old analog signals contain.
