Going to be virtually impossible to find a good mono copy of This Was Sir Jeffrey...

I consider myself lucky to get a nice vinyl copy of the stereo release. I suppose in a pinch I could switch the "mono" button on my pre-amp and listen to it that way...:hm:

The mono "This Was" was only available originally for under a month so I understand. Seemed surprising really as imo it's a far better mix. The remastered edition of the album of a couple of years ago has the original mono mix as one of the versions on the cd set btw.

My battered lp copy of the mono mix is carefully stored away and anyone attempting to purchase a copy on ebay will have to pay megabucks to get a copy.

Now if we had all kept quiet copies would be easy to find and quite cheaply :wa

^^I'll keep that in mind for future reference Sir Jeffrey...the CD that has both versions.

However, I am not a fan of most mono recordings I've listened to, I prefer the Beatles stereo mixes to the mono recordings, but admit my experience is not vast in this area. The only other artist I've listened to in mono is Dylan, and I'm not a huge fan of his anyway.

^^Thanks for the link I might end up with that CD as well, but right now I'm still happy about getting a near mint vinyl edition of This Was, it's really hard to find in these parts.:grinthumb

Ian Anderson is a very accomplished musician and the band knew how to right well structured and laid out songs.

Ian Anderson is a "songsmith" of the highest order, and I love the variety of their discography. My good friend Rattlehead is always talking about bands that "experiment and take risks with their sound" and Jethro Tull has done that better than any band I can think of over the decades.

Of course I am a RABID fan so I might be a little biased.:D

JETHRO TULL This Is Not Love music reviews and MP3
This is not love is possibly my fav track
Ive got it on a comp tull album.Has anyone got any more info please.
All i can find is the fact that it was a single
Edit-Its from catfish rising
It is from the 1991 Tull album Catfish Rising and the song was issued separately as a cd single couple with two other songs which were "Night in the wilderness" and an in concert recording of "Jump start". It was also released on a vinyl single at the same time with "Night in the wilderness" on the b side.
