Re: Janis Joplin (an "official" thread)

Great job, on the opening of the Janis thread, lady...

you didn't leave a stone unturned....you nailed it!

Excellent job...

As, I always say of Janis...

No one could sing like Janis.

The raw power and emotion - you could feel it to the top of your head...

to your heart....

to the bottom of your shoes.

They'll never be another Janis...

other's have tried and have failed.

One of the most saddest things is, that Janis finally found love in the end, and was engaged to be married in September of 1970, but sadly died in October of 1970.

Love Janis...I would of loved to hear her sing ''live'' in concert, where she really-really shined.

That was good video, Astrid. Not only was Janis on fire as always but I really liked the guitarist's tone, particularly in the solo. Also I always thought it was a good look for Janis to wear feather boas in her hair. :D

Favorite Live Clip of Janis Joplin

Hey everyone! I’m a huge fan of Janis. I’m always on youtube watching videos of her live performances. I recently found this clip of her singing “Cry Baby” in Toronto in 1970. Check it out here:

What is your favorite live clip of Janis?!

Janis was a true shining star that very sadly burnt out far too early, but her light remains with us:D. Her performance at Monterey was pure emotion, she was so happy in that gig ( Why don't they release this on CD ?). Hers to you Janis :cheers2. Bryter.

I can't really add much since so much has already been said about her.. But I dig the shit out of her crooning.. I was in a bar one day (small beer bar) and I was sitting next to this guy who was sorta a homeless dude but at least didn't reek and was dressed OK.. He was a few years older than me and I had been buying him a few beers and we talked about music..
I went over to the jukebox and picked out a few tunes and Janis's "Summertime" was one of them..
When it came on I was enjoying it and I asked him did he like that song and his words were. "
Hell No!! That's a pussy song".. I wanted to pop him in the head..:heheh:
Thank God another guy showed up who was a Bass player and sat next to me so I had someone else to talk too..:lmao:
