50 Years since their debut album. Man it makes me old because I can still remember seeing them on tv in Holland in 1969. Didn't get them then, but that changed later in a big way. What a band :cheers2

Like all great works, the Doors' first long play effort maintains a certain aura of freshness about it despite age And Record 27,instead of feeling old cause you recall when the Doors were a current act, instead feel blessed you were around to witness the social and musical evolutions of the 1960's.Man,I wish I were there. But then I am glad to have gone through "Purple Rain" and "Born in the USA" in the '80's..,......

I've got to admit I didn't 'get' The Doors in the late '60s when they were at their peak. Too young to appreciate what they were doing. I finally came to the table about 25 years ago. A truly astonishing band.

You're right mate. I do feel blessed to have grown up with those really great bands. I was maybe a little young to really get them at the time, but by the time I was 14 in 1975, I made up for it then. There was a late night show on the radio that I used to listen to that played what we today call classic rock, and my musical tastes were formed by those presenters. The good ol' days :)
