i saw Lizzy four times, three times in Liverpool, UK and the final time i saw them was their last ever UK performance before they disbanded when they headlined at the legendary Reading Rock Festival in 1983, that was an emotional night when they performed 'Still in Love With You,'...The year after Lizzy split up Phil formed the band Grand Slam and i went to see them at a venue in Preston, UK..Grand Slam were ok but they couldn't get a record deal and Phil was on a real downward slide with his heroin addiction, he looked bloated and not well.. Grand Slam to me were just a poor version of Lizzy..Last time i saw Phil was about 3 or 4 months before he died, Gary Moore was doing a UK tour in 1985 and i went to see him in Manchester on that tour and Phil came out for the encores...Those Goddamn awful heavy drugs robbed us of a true rock legend..

As far as I'm concerned Phil was and still is a ROCK GOD!!.

I once met Eric Bell and Brian Downey together back stage in the dressing room after coming off stage at a 'Lizzy gig' in Sheperds Bush in west London back in October 1993 anyway the bass player was a tall dark skin guy obviously a nod to Philo ;)
