BE- Yes Govt Mule are an outstanding band. I took a few years off listening to them as I spent the late 90's listening to them all the time. I've got numerous live bootlegs of them let alone saw them about a dozen times including the last show of their original bass player Allen Woody. The benefit show govt mule did following his death is one of the best shows I've ever been too. Allman Brothers, Phil Lesh and Friends, Black Crows and then Govt Mule with Friends. Warren Haynes played in all the bands and show went on forever. Govt Mule always do a cover or two and that night they played

Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys
Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Wish You Were Here
Cortez the Killer
When the Blues Come Knockin
Lovelight
GDTRFB
Mississippi Queen (with Leslie West)
I Shall Be Released

After that they used several bass players and took a harder edge to the music which lost me. However, they have been doing more and more covers and have a bootleg series of 200 covers.
I prefer their live stuff but they have a few good albums.

In the late 90's and 2000 Allen Woody and Matt Abts also played in Blue Floyd, pink floyd songs with a bluesy touch, along with Mark Ford and Johnny Neel. Warren would often guest too.

Today I discovered the first Crazy Horse album from 1971, including Gone Dead Train and Beggars' Day, and it is amazing.
