How rock in the early 70s has affected on community?

I am writing right now an assignment on any topic within area of music. Basically I have to write something about genre or artist. So I've chosen hard rock during the early 70s, era of Uriah Heep, Nazareth, Deep Purple, Atomic Rooster, Black Sabbath and many more. I'd like also include some other genres, such as progressive and blues rock. Just how it influenced me.

But I need your help, some of you actually lived in 70s and have some experiences with few bands. Can you write something about how rock has affected on media and people? Did it make any difference in community?

I didn't really dig deeply into music until the mid 70's, when I could afford to buy my own albums Nolo.

Do you mean in general terms, personally and what effects we observed where we lived and our country's as a whole?

Pretty much yes, like how did people react on some bands that would later become very influential.
