How did you find CRF?

I found the site from a link in the "GMFS under new management" thread at GMFS.

but why did the site need to get revived last year in the first place? im missing that it seems .

My understanding is that this site never gained much momentum because of "competition" from the other site. About two years ago the site suffered an infestation of troll(s) frustrated/angered by the membership's collective disinterest to their evangelical message. This made music discussion all the more difficult and members drifted away until it seemed only a skeleton crew remained.

I think we all owe a vote of thanks to members like Martha Washington, Music Wench, Kath, Newdawnfades, Telecat, Eberg, Snakes&Ladders, Spike, Gearjammer, Reverend Rock, Midnight Rider, Zombeels, Rollingstoned, FoxyPage and Shaggy who persevered during the lean times and kept the site from dying completely.



Sadly even some of those gave up the ghost earlier in 2009.

Coincidentally, Flower began posting energetically and Oblivion, Mr. Shadow and I joined the very same week in September. When Magic and Lord Grendel took on admin functions in October, they also began actively recruiting friends and the stage was set for the lively group we have here today. When METALPRIEST joined in late November, things really started to snowball.

I have to add my profound thanks to Shaggy for keeping it going despite the lack of activity. Many owners would have turned out the lights and locked the doors at that point, but he kept it online.

.... Flower might have more to say she has been here a lot longer than I have and Knows a lot of the old members that don't visit anymore.

I had a "classic rock question" in October 2002 and googled Classic Rock and found the original forum ... I needed to join to ask the question and Runtfan and others were very helpful ..

The first version of this forum did have problems with some members which caused the owner problems, in fact, he had to delete all the posts of one member due to legal issues .. when Dwight, the owner, decided that he'd had enough, he gave the reigns to his two mods, who started a new forum, they did announce the new site and most people went over ...

I was unaware that Shaggy had taken over this site and found it when I was googling a handle of a friend .. I joined to PM a friend or two but didn't post .. I would check out the forum from time to time but I really don't want to post on multiple forums.

*Problems* arose on the 'other' forum which caused me to seek a forum that wasn't hostile .. I came here with Foxhound & Hepcat and we decided to jump start this place, a week or so later, Magic & Lord Grendel started to post and bring over some buddies and soon this place was no longer a ghost town but a warm, friendly, community of people interested in fun and music.

Truthfully Flower convinced Foxhound and myself to start posting here in September when a problem caused by an administrative change arose for me on the other forum.

I guess you were hear a bit before me, I know we are both 08's

but yeah, I remember checking back about once a week and there would sometimes barely be anything new... and yes, I got some very interesting pm's when I first got here

I remember when I first joined, it was really quiet in here. I saw the place had potential, so I asked LG to join and CP/M, and next thing I knew there were more and more posts. I was here for some of those harassing PM's, but just overlooked them, since that kind of thing happens alot in cyberspace.

Then this fall, I plotted to take over Shaggy was so easy to convince, too ***:

I do thank Flower, Hepcat, Foxhound, Eberg, Truckin', Foxypage, Gearjammer, runtfan, Zombeels, rollingstoned, and a few others for standing behind me and LG and helping to put some fire back into the forum.


And I really appreciate all the people who have returned and all the new members. This forum is like my home, and I try to treat everyone like family.

It has been a lot easier to kick start this one than our last project Magic, thanks to the good foundation we had and the quality of Shaggy's filters.

And yeah this is the Only forum I visit and post in...I am not a forum junkie I prefer one really good site to dozens I just bounce to occasionally.
