It's been heavily speculated that Ritchie Blackmore based the riff from Deep Purple's "Mistreated" off the Free classic "Heartbreaker" (Given Paul Rodgers was being courted by the Purple camp after Gillan left, it's not really too surprising). Both are amazing songs in their own right, but which do you prefer?

Free - Heartbreaker

Deep Purple - Mistreated

Heartbreaker is a pretty cool tune, but I love Mistreated!

I also really really dig the Yngwie Malmsteen version of Mistreated!!!

Edit:

Ugh... then the poll options are opposite of what the videos are, so I accidentally voted for Heartbreaker. Can someone please fix that up, purty plz. TY.

Yeah sorry 'bout that, I tried to fix it, but to no avail :(

And I'm personally in two minds about Yngwie's version, I love Soto's vocals on the track, but Yngwie rather typically overplays all over it :\

It's gotta be done by a mod or an admin. not the end of the world, one of them will see it and make the change

I can understand that, however I just dig the overall tone and feel of the tune. The vocals, imho, are better than Coverdale's original. And yeah Yngwie can be a bit over the top in some of his playing, but in this song, I think it works. Jm2CW.
