HEART TO SHOW FANS MORE LOVE WITH NEW ALBUM
THIS NEWS BROUGHT TO YOU BY VH1’S DAVE BASNER

Heart have announced plans to release a new album in October. The follow-up to 2010’s Red Velvet Car will be called Fanatic. However, that’s not all the band is working on – they’re also writing a biography and putting together a box set of rare material including classic tracks plus songs that weren’t on their major label albums. You can also catch them on tour this year. Get all the details at Heart-Music.com.

Nice to see Heart is still active.

But I am more interested in getting Little Queen and Dreamboat Annie on remastered audiophile vinyl, and I found both of them yesterday.:D

Red Velvet Car was very disappointing. Jupiter's Darling wasn't much better. Far too inward as if they thought, "don't care what anyone thinks of this, other than us". It's very clear that they're taking every step possible to move as far away from the Nevison/ Zito produced mid to late 80's/ early 90's work as they possibly can.

And that's fine, if the retraction puts them back in Dreamboat Annie, Little Queen or Bebe Le Strange territory, but the songwriting is no where near that level. I listen to Little Queen now and they weren't THAT far from rightly laying claim to being a US Led Zeppelin.

Hope they've fixed it as (if it's hum drum) then I'm packing my bags and exiting the Heart house.

I agree. Red Velvet Car was for the most part a giant bore. Ann and Nancy still sound great, but the material just wasn't there on Red Velvet Car. I think alot of it has to do with the difference between having a HOT band backing you up ( Roger Fisher, Howard Leese, Steve Fossen,, Michael DeRosier) and the nondescript bunch they have now. Now, it seems, the band is an afterthought - no band identity or personality at all. I've loved Heart since Dreamboat Annie came out and I think their first four albums stand up to just about anything else that was around then, but once Ann and Nancy started to jettison the original band it was the beginning of the end, musically speaking. I still love Heart ( I love 'em enough to have started a Heart tribute band - a damn good one too) but I'm skeptical that they'll come up with anything that stands up to their classic material. I've seen them a handful of times over the last few years and it's been pretty much the same show - predictable tunes, outstanding performances from Ann and Nancy, lackluster performances by a lackluster backup band. I'll go to my grave defending their classic albums form the classic lineup but they've never recaptured that magic - even when they were tearing up the charts in the 80's. I still believe they can blow my mind but they've got to turn everything up a notch - mostly the songwriting.

I saw them in concert a couple of years ago and they were good, but I much prefer the band with Leese and the others mentioned.

I believe even if they brought back Howard Leese, that alone would be a big improvement :grinthumb

I'm the same boat as most other fans. Sure, make a new album, but make a GOOD one. Ladies...I know you have the talent..get rid of that boring band you have and kick some ass before you really do get old.

Off RVC I liked Wheels. Other than that it was pretty much standard late model Heart fare. Come on already!
