Born on Feb. 20th 1946 in New York City, blues-rock guitarist [John W.] J. Geils, founder of The J. Geils Band, celebrates his 68th birthday. From 1981, here's their single, "Centerfold", which reached #1 in the U.S. - and was their only major hit single in the United Kingdom.

Love this band, and nice to see another legend celebrate his birthday.

It's too bad he's involved in a legal battle with the other founding members of the J Geils Band over using the name to tour, as he's no longer part of the band and owns the right to the name.

Happy Birthday! This is one of those bands I worked "backwards" on. I really liked the early 80's stuff (high school days), but as I got older, I really got into their older work. Bloodshot is still in heavy rotation here, whereas the more "popular" stuff has lost some of it's luster.
