Green has some great songs on it but Automatic For The People is just one great track after another. Too bad R.E.M. went downhill after it though. It was their peak.

Green's good, but Automatic is a work of art.

I don't think any R.E.M. album will eclipse "Automatic For The People"! It's their darkest, most rocking album of the ones I've heard. "Drive" and "Nightswinning" are two of their greatest songs ever! :cheers2

R.E.M. = Rapid Eye Movement = for me
Exactly! I can listen to a (small) handful of REM tunes across the first 10 yrs or so of their career, but most of it I do not care for at all. Automatic has "everybody hurts" which to me is one of the whiniest songs ever recorded and I just cant stand it. The rest of the album was always foreshadowed by my annoyance for that song and I couldn't take it.

Green had Orange Crush which is probably my favorite REM tune (out of that small handful I do like), so Green easily wins this for me. Automatic?! Ish.
